Background

The ABC is a Kenyan Non-governmental organisation that was registered in 1997. ABC formerly ABCD (African Braille Computer Development) was set up in 1987. Its aim was to provide Braille reading materials to visually impaired Braille reading materials to visually impaired school children in east, Central and Southern Africa (ECSA) countries.

ABC continues with the original mandate of providing Braille reading materials to children in Primary and secondary schools in Kenya and the wider African region. ABC is based in Nairobi Kenya.

Vision

ABC's Vision is to become a centre for excellence in providing educational materials, devices and approproate services for people with visual impairments, in Kenya, the Eastern Africa Sub-region and Africa as a whole.


Mission

ABC's mission is to produce and supply materials and services that keep people with visual impairments in touch with the information they need to for a better quality of life.
