Disability is not Inability

::Bizbyte Congratulations Vincent Egessa & the Standard on Sunday for educating us about ICT....

For those of us who know the values of ICT and may not have the time to run to the classroom for more training on ICT will always buy the Sunday Standard. Bizbytes has for quite some time now been an ICT classroom. It was a pride to see that such efforts are appreciated in some priviledged quaters like the Computer Society of Kenya..

In the Eleventh edition of the Annual Convocation Awards dinner at the Panari Hotel, more than 30 Awards were given out to companies and individuals that have made a mark in the Information Communication Technology (ICT).

The Standard Group, parent company of the educative and informative Bizbytes Magazine won two awards. On Bizbytes my friend Vincent Egessa The Standard Group ICT Manager said 'We were recognised becauseof the support of ICTs in the print media through the ICT-related articles we publish, mostly in Bizbytes'

Vincent Eggessa with the two awards won during this years ICT Awards.

Better still some of us who work within the disability community and have the orenuos task of teaching ICT to Person swith Disabilites, this has always been a great opportunity for informal capacity building of the regretablly neglected community.

The magazine highlightsvarious technological dvelopments globally and how these can be tapped to spur local ICT sector.

As a matter of fact that Sunday 3rd December 2006, being the International Disability Day, Both KTN Prime News with Oyier and Laurance Mute and the Bizbytes came up withan articles Very dear to my heart and which is also the main idea behind this website. How ICT can improve the livelihoods of the persons with disabilities in a country like Kenya.

Pauline's articles was quite interesting in the sense of the ideas she presented in terms of possibilities for overcoming challenges inherent in a developing country like Kenya and resources currently available to enable the PWds improve their livelihoods. We believe access is still the main issue but as the disabilitykenya site shows quite a lot can be achieved within the next decade.
