::Congenitally Deaf or Hard of Hearing
and adventiously Blind or Visually Impaired.
These persons are born deaf or hard of hearing and later in life
they acquire vision loss.
The main causes of visual impairments are:
* Retinitis Pigmentosa.
* Macular degeneration.
* Diabetes.
* Cataract.
* Glacoma
* Accidents.
The majority of persons in this category are those who suffer
from Usher's Syndrome which is a congenital deafness combined
with Retinitis pigmentosa. Statistics from the west indicate that
up to 6% of congenitally deaf children will gradually loose their
vision during their teenage years due to retnitinis pigmentosa
and therefore need information, guidance and rehabilitation.
