Disability is not Inability

:: The Disability ACCESS ICT

:: To train PWDs instal and establish cybercafes and computer labs in schools hospitals, organisation of PWDs to access internet enabled services.

This is a two way programme:

a) provide disability-friendly content.

:: The website Disabilitykenya under asistive devices accumulates materials relevant to various health education and advocasy needs of persons with disabilities from various levels of live and uploads them for free access in the website.

The materials are then adopted into various disability-friendly modes that are easily accessible.

b) Provide access to various users.

:: The second way in which this is done is through working with various stakeholders under various programmes to train persosn with disabilities in using, maintaining, installing, computer facilities.

To achieve this the project provides for free computers to schools for the deaf and blind, or physically challenged, hospitals facilites working with PWDs, organisations working for and by PWDs etc.

As a public access facility the organisation is also fundrasing for the establishment of a national network of cybercafes that are disability-firendly both as an income generating solution for various groups of PWDs and as an method of building access.
