:: ELECTORAL CODE OF CONDUCT.

:: Preface to the electoral code of conduct.

:: The Electoral Code of Conduct
forms part of the law governing presidential, parliamentary and local government elections in Kenya. It is mentioned in Section 34A of the National Assembly and presidential Elections Act (NAPEA) and section 72 A of the Local Government Act (LGA) which applies it to local government elections. It is a schedule -Fourth Schedule of NAPEA. It therefore is a law passed by parliament with all the authority that goes with that.

:: The CODE of Conduct

The Code is basically clean, simple and direct. There is almost nothing that could usefully be added to its provisions, even by way of explanation.

It starts by stating who should subscribe to it, and then its overiding objective. This is followed by the binding commitments for its subscribers, and finally the penalties for offending subscribers and their rights.
