Background Guidelines for assessing the ICT needs
* You can contact a school for or with children with disabilities...
* Most schools may or may not have electricity...
* In Which alternative sources of power would be advisable if
the power lines are too far...
* In many an area solar energy is cost effective because power
lines may be too far or installation may be expensive for the
school to maintain.
* The electricity project may benefit the school immensely especially
if they have children with communication disabilities.
* ICT may have to be second project after electricity in schools
which lack electricity.
* Many teachers may have also to be trained first on how to integrate
ICT in training children with dissabilities.
* In schools that have units for children with disabilties...
a children with various disabilities may likely be taught in one
class...
* There may be inadequate classrooms for separating the children
according to their special needs...
* in cases where they are integrated into mainstream class, chances
are that the teacher may not have the skills or the time to provide
qualilty inclusion of the child with special needs.
* in cases where children with special needs are in a separate
unit chances are that the teachers may not be in the payroll of
the Teachers Service Commission and theus are not adequately remunerated.
The pupils may also not have instruction materials to assist any
individual, group or class learning.
