:: DEAFAID launches a web resource centre http://www.kenyadeafnet.org

A new website based resource faciltiy was recently launched to provide information about the deaf in kenya. The kenya deaf resource Centre is envisioned to be a major conduit of information for the deaf community in Kenya.

The launched which was attended by The minister for youth affairs among other was held at a Nairobi hotel. The Kenya deaf resource centre is a project of the Deaf AID the local branch of Deaf AID an organisation with its head office in the Norway.

Deaf AID has several education based projects in the country including the Kisii Resource Centre for the Deaf. Deaf Early Childhood Develop Centre, working with the Handicap International in the project in kibera called Nairobi Family Support services.

Deaf AID Vision: Working towards a Kenya Society more inclusive of the deaf, with focus on children and youth.

Deaf AID Mission: To bring a spotlight on the deaf children and work towards the elimination of the societal, physical, informational, educational, legal, and attitudinal barriers that prevent them from enjoying their basic human rgiths and unleashing their full potential.

Deaf AIDS has three strategy to achieve its mission:

changing attitudes towards deafness and improving aptitudes of services providers to the deaf.

Creating the framework for better living and educational conditions of the deaf child.
