Disability is not Inability

:: Miss Disability 2003 Event

:: Role Of the Miss Disability.

Women with disabilities face much more challenges over and above the challenges women face in Africa.

The creation of awareness by a role model by virtue of building self awareness and respect of their bodies; building skills to improve access to economic and political power; advocacy for rights and opportunities for women: these are the roles of Miss Disability.

More women with disabilities face rape and sexual abuse than those without. This is mainly as a result of the fact that women with disabilities by virtue of their condition are less aware about sexual or reproductive issues neither can they report report an abuser.
