:: Miss Disability 2003 Event
:: Role Of the Miss Disability.
Women with disabilities face much more challenges over and above
the challenges women face in Africa.
|
The creation of awareness by
a role model by virtue of building self awareness and respect
of their bodies; building skills to improve access to economic
and political power; advocacy for rights and opportunities
for women: these are the roles of Miss Disability. |
More women with disabilities face rape and sexual abuse than those
without. This is mainly as a result of the fact that women with
disabilities by virtue of their condition are less aware about
sexual or reproductive issues neither can they report report an
abuser.
The creation of awareness by a role model by virtue
