Disability is not Inability

Miss Disability Secretariat:

The Miss Disability is a project that targets to build the Self Awareness of Women with disabilities to appreciate and accept their bodies and live to their potential.

Miss Disability Organised the first Disability pegeant in 2003 in which over 200 participants from various disabilities catwalked and expressed their dreams, what drives them, their visions, their challenges and their strengths.

The Grand finale was held at the Hilton Ballroom and was graced by The First Lady Mama Lucy Kibaki, who is widely known for her activities in supporting the disability community in Kenya, among other women of various spces in the Kenyan society.

The organisation plans to hold Miss Disability 2007 to be held at a last quater of the year.

The Project publishes its activities through its sister project disabilitykenya through public communication and information about various issues about disability beauty peageants worldwide.

International Networking

The project networks with other disability beauty pegeants worldwide like the Miss Deaf World held annually in the Prague.


The projects also organises:

The International Disability Day 2004 in which His Excellency The President of the Republic of Kenya was the Chief Guest in an event held at the United Disability of Kenya Grounds in Waiyaki Way. The President signed a visitors books in our exhibition Stand and all the Beauty Pegeants were present.

The organisation of Miss disability Beauty Pageants in which various women with disabilities are awarded for their lifes skills and appreciation of their beauty irrespective of DIsabilities.
