Disability is not Inability

Deaf leaders from all parts of the country met for their annual meeting to discuss issues affecting the deaf and especially the various issues related to our response against HIV/AIDS. This years conference was however sponsored by the Liverpool VCT.

This was a splendidi opportunity not only to brainstorm about HIV AIDS and the deaf but also to specifically look at the challenges facing interventions against AIDS within the deaf community. Deaf VCT and the issues surrundoung the various issues related to Deaf VCT, community mobilisation, and challenges in relation to health facilites and hospital access issues.


Indepth discussion also brought forward the various issues that are necessary to improve community support and knowledge for deaf VCT services and the way forward.

Other issues that arose included among others the role of deaf leadership in improving support and reducing stigma against the deaf living with AIDS.
