:: SECOND OBJECTIVE - PROVIDING FOR THE
RIGHTS AND
REHABILITATION OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES
The second principal objective of enacting the
Persons with Disabilities Act is to provide for the rights and
rehabilitation of persons with disabilities. The Act creates two
categories of rights. These are:
:: Employment
to be Reserved for Persons with Disabilities
:: Discrimination
against persons with disabilities is prohibited
:: Incentives
to Employers of Persons with Disabilities
:: The Council Must Maintain Records of
Employment
15. The Council must establish a record of persons
with disabilities who are in possession of skills and training.
The Council must regularly update the record.
:: Discrimination
in Relation to the Provision of Learning opportunities is disallowed
:: Physical
Environment must be Disability-Friendly
:: The
Council May Issue Adjustment Orders
:: Denial
of Access to Premises to Persons with Disabilities is Prohibited
:: Offences
in Relation to Discrimination of Persons with Disabilities
:: Discrimination
in Respect of Sports and Recreation Prohibited
