:: Kenyan's Deaf Visits Tanzania friends.

Greeting to all. Last week on 27th September 2007 we go to visit frienda in Tanzania and we enjoy a lot. Daniel’s family was happy to see to visitors in their house. Tanzania was nice place and muslims wearing buibui are more than Christian.

On Sunday of 30th September we joined the church. The Pastor is preached to us the word of God from the Bible using Tanzania sign language and Joseph the interpreter translated into Kenya sign language.

After which Daniel lead to us go to town to meet and socialise with friends. We had challenges in communication. Tanzania sign language is based on Kiswahili but Kenya sign langauge is English based. Kenya even has stoped teaching kiswahili in primary schools. This will make but very hard for deaf people in Kenya and Tanzania to communicate as kenyans do not know kiswahili.

Daniel lives in Tanzania but he interprets to visitors from in Kenya through Kenya sign language because we not understand Tanzania sign language. I motivated to learn tanzania sign language. But i really need to learn kiswahili. Signs were very confusing because what a sign may mean in Kenya is not what they means in Tanzania. It is different but easy to learn if have interest.

Tanzania different between in Kenya. Tanzania was culture which repect to other people. When someone shake your hand they show respect much. this not common in Kenya. Kenya people culture very little respect.
