:: History of Sarova Panafric Hotel

Sarova Panafric first opened its doors to the public on 5th January 1965, the first president of Kenya H.E. Mzee Jomo Kenyatta , a staunch supporter of the Pan African Movement officially opened it under the name Sarova Panafric.

It had only one block consisting of 100 rooms but an economic boom led to an increase in business during the Pan-African era, which led to an ambitious expansion plan. The 2nd block was officially opened on 6th February 1969.

In 1991 Sarova Hotels bought Sarova Panafric from African Tours & Hotels (AT&H) making it the third Sarova Hotels acquisition, after The Sarova Stanley and Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort Mombasa.

Sarova Panafric is imposingly set in a quiet residential suburb, which commands a panoramic view of the Nairobi city. Panafric is the renowned brainchild and home to authentic cultural theme nights and fast, efficient and friendly services.

SAROVA PANAFRIC TRANSITION: At 40, Sarova Panafric Now Roars Among Africa 's Best

Nineteen sixty-five, exactly four decades today, Sarova Panafric has curved a special niche in Kenya 's hospitality industry being among the oldest and most heritage-valued hotel in Kenya .

As she celebrates her fortieth anniversary, Sarova Panafric has changed so much that the name sounds familiar but her face is easily unidentifiable, thanks to various phases of renovations.

The 153-roomed hotel has in addition 46 fully serviced apartments and has undergone a systematic product development project which has seen extensive refurbishing of Accommodation and Conference rooms at a cost of hundreds of millions of shillings.

The Hotel's Suites, Superior & Standard rooms are stylishly furnished and adequately equipped to project a modern world class hotel. Each guest room has sparkling and sophisticatedly modern look, with custom-made beds, polished wood and tactile fabrics.

Amenities include direct Internet connectivity from the comfort of the room, a direct dial phone, 24- channel satellite TV and fast friendly 24-hour room service available at the touch of a button.

And with completion of the Conference Halls Renovation Project, Panafric has acquired a new elevated, finer product image in terms of physical property and service provision.

"The driving objective behind the refurbishment was to develop Panafric into a modern premiere conference and business hotel" David Gachuru , the Hotel's General Manager says.
