:: A donkey could save the day.

The last time (read during the referendum) we were chaperoned by a media that was duopolistic (Nation and KTN control about equal marketshare of opinion) and some say this caused the two-edged division the country that resulted in much acrimony and fear. Another two Horse Race in the coming elections? The success of CITIZEN TV it is hoped will divide the country maybe into three or more opinion marketshares that would be a better way to absorb the shocks of the huge avalanche of political battles expected shortly.

Many believe a two horse race is risky to the country's transitional security. To reduce the power of an oligopolistic media, some believe building a third force that would provide an alternative braking system to the rumble. This would be an opportunity to decide the stakes through a mediator with political muscle supporting some form a deal that can save the day.

The recent Government drive to work out some media reforms, was seen by some targeted to reduce or breakdown the editorial control of the big oligopolistic media to manageable levels. Citizen some say is the mouthpiece of a donkey whose political marketshares has to be built by eating into Nation and KTN. The expansion of this share countrywide is its greatest challenge. So you will understand why chelsea captained by Luis Otieno had to come to Citizen at whatever cost. Nobody would afford to pay them that much in November 2008 anyway. That is why we have included citizen TV in our news menu.
