:: WHAT SUBMISSION IS REALLY ALL ABOUT
In a world where marital strife is the norm rather
than the exception it is always
refreshing to meet couples that seem to have found
a winning formula to a happy-ever-after union. KWAMBOKA
OYARO in the Daily Nation May 23rd 2007.
The story goes about a man who was in the bar
enjoying a beer late into the night. Under his table was a live
chicken and when asked, he told his fellow drinkers that it was
his supper, which his wife would prepare and cook for him when
he eventually got home.
Like most men, he was simply trying to show that
he was the undisputed head of the home and whatever he said was
law. No woman would be happy to slaughter, de-feather and cook
a chicken in the middle of the night no matter how much she loves
her husband. And therein lay his power over her –
because she would do it whether she like it or not.
Unless women become wise and
think up ways of turning such an activity into a pleasure,
the cycle of power and resentment goes on and couples grow to
hate each other. At the heart of this problem lies stubborn
pride or ignorance of the specific roles
men and women are supposed to play in a marriage.
To avoid unnecessary unhappiness and turn marriage
into something truly loving and warm, a couple cannot ignore the
aspect of sacrificing their egos at the altar
of their marriage liberated them from many of the common challenges
faced by couples.
Pastor Mr and Mrs Kiuna shared with Kwamboka Oyaro tips on how
they have worked their 13 years of marriage. Submission
is about dealing with the ego as a husband and or
a wife. "before
my wife I have no Ego" Says Allan, to which
his wife Kathy adds, "The ego prevents you from enjoying
marriage."
