:: How did you spend your Valentine?
14th February 2007
Valentine day how did you spend it? disabilitykenya run
around and found some interesting stories. The best was Moonlight
Valentine VCT by Liverpool VCT and the most catchy
was Nations story
of a couple who are blind and had a great valentines
Day in their rural humble homes. And Valentine did not know
disability...
Most of us however spent some time with our loved ones. unfortunately
quite a number of us spent this time either drinking or making
love. hoping that we used a condom during the sexual expeditions. |

But what is Valentine? My friends from western smacked me in
the face saying Valentine is a preserve of the rich people with
disabilities. us poor we have no time to even think of valentine.
We have very little to eat or wear why on earth would we be thinking
about Valentine?
Some of us have no electricity let alone television so we have
no time to know what others are doing or who is selling which
flower.
Meanwhile, the business of flowers boomed mightliy. Plans were
made as early as last year. many made improvements from what they
did last year. Flowers were being delivered to offices all over
town. Valentine is a great business opportunity. We need to learn
from this uss who are seeking business opportunities.
We saw that in Japan they had chocolate Baths. Where chocolate
was poured into a bathtab and chocolate was dripping from some
tap above.
Its unfortunate we did not have valentine for the less fortunate.
In 2004 during the official launch of the Deaf VCT there was a
valentine ceremony for children with disabilities at the Stanley
Hotel. The celebrations saw children with disabilities from various
children's hommes like Dagorreti come for dinner at the prestigious
Hotel.
Quite a number still had problem with their families, jobs, or
relationships. Politicians were still busy throwing words at each
other.I know quite a number of individuals expressed love during
valentine in various was assisting various children here and there.
Some bought presents for their mother, other were ashamed of their
mothers.
Some brought presents for their children without disabilities
and did not remember the other one who has disbilities. Some broke-up
partners and run away with the other new catch, while some held
on and nourished their long standing relationship.
We all made our choices, and we all need to learn from these choices
and hope to make better choices next year.
Happy valentine
Disabilitykenya.
