Disability
is not Inability |
:: The WHO disability
Model.
Infact many documentation by the National Council for Persons
with Disabilities, the intergrated version initiated by the World
Health Organisation is mostly embraced. This defines
disability as an integration of both the
medical and social
models.
The WHO model starts with the health condition
that gives rise to the impairments and then activity limitations
and participation restrictions. Limitations can be experienced
among other areas in learning and applying knowledge, mobility,
education, self-care, economic self sufficiency and remunerative
employment.
